Play Deck Project in Santa Cruz, CA
This deck, climbing wall and kids ladder wrapping around the trees was constructed in Santa Cruz county along the central coast. It was designed to be a play area for kids with the wall and ladder but it is suitable for adults to walk among the trees or sit and enjoy a beverage. It is elevated on the front edge and has a secret entrance that has the option to enter. The larger portion of deck is where the adults will congregate at a length of 20’. The children’s play deck is a length of 12’ long and both decks match in width at 8’ the children’s play deck was built with smooth heart redwood treads, rough redwood posts treated with copper green at the base and pressure treated joists to withstand moisture. It was coated with oil based natural transparent stain after completion.
The Twenty foot addition to the play area was constructed with all rough redwood and stained with transparent oil based natural stain. Pressure treated joists and rough redwood posts treated with copper green at the base. Both decks were finished with rope railings made from redwood.
This customer was very happy and has notified us that the kids love it as well as any adults who like to walk and sit among the healthy trees growing straight through the deck. It has expanded their ability to have larger gatherings with multiple children present.
